Many talk of reinventing the wheel. We did it. Davin Wheels started as a sketch on a sheet of drafting paper. It was a simple, yet brilliant reinterpretation of a design that had been around since 4000 B.C. – a futuristicly designed wheel for SUV and luxury cars composed of two elements - the base wheel and the spinner - which allowed for continued spinning even when the vehicle was stationary. It was created by David Fowlkes in 1990 for a class at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. David left MCAD a top designer with a dream and prototype.

What was to eventually become the Davin Revolution 1.0 was meticulously refined as David made his mark in the design world. He was a senior designer at Reebok when David met Hank Seemore, a top money guy in Fleet Bank’s Private Client Group, and Ian Hardman, a Reebok marketing guru. The three quickly realized they shared an entrepreneurial spirit and eventually formed a kind of new idea incubator. David unveiled his innovative wheel prototype to his new business partners – Hank and Ian were amazed. This was the idea they were waiting for.

In the same way the forged aluminum components of the Davin Wheel come together to form something extraordinary, David, Hank and Ian incorporated Davin Wheels in 1998. For the next 12 months they combined their individual talents to hone prototype into product. In January 2001, the Revolution 1.0 made its debut at the LA Auto Show where the world was introduced to the first spinning rim and freespin technology.

Demand for the Davin wheel has been nothing short of phenomenal. It proves that a simple idea, executed with the right combination of style and ingenuity, can change the way people think about a product that’s been around forever.
